MEET ATHAN CHEKAS

Athan Chekas (he/him) is a gay actor, comedian, and social-media personality who grew up in Connecticut. You’d expect a dramatic coming-out story, but his friends and family already knew who he was before he did. So, he packed his bags, dreams, and his larger than life personality, and headed to the Big Apple. After studying at the William Esper Studio and enduring a string of questionable student films and auditions, and after years of rejections he began his social media online presence.

With over 1 million followers across socials, Athan is best known for his sassy motivational message videos and portraying various characters ranging from bitchy 911 operator to everyone’s favorite gay principal. His inspiration comes from the queer community and his 3 bratty dogs (Reba, Ru, Reese) and antique shopping with his husband.

Athan continues to create content across Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, and Snapchat, recently diving into pop culture trends. This past June, he was part of two projects featured at this year’s Tribeca Film Festival: ‘I Need Your Love’ and Jeremy O. Harris’s documentary ‘A Slave Play. Not a Play. A Movie.’ Currently, Athan has added stand-up comedy to his portfolio participating in this year’s NY Queer Comedy Festival as well as been developing a comedy series on social media called ‘My Gay Roommates,’ about a straight man living with two dysfunctional gay roommates.
